Independent technical purchase support
Independent Yacht Buyer Representation in Spain
Practical technical support before, during and after the purchase of a sailing yacht, motor yacht or catamaran.
Independent Support for Yacht Buyers
Buying a yacht can involve technical, financial and practical decisions that are difficult to evaluate from sales information alone.
All Yacht Service provides independent technical support for buyers before, during and after the purchase of sailing yachts, motor yachts and catamarans.
The service is particularly valuable for international buyers purchasing yachts in Spain or elsewhere in the Mediterranean, as well as buyers who cannot personally attend every viewing, inspection, sea trial or repair-yard appointment.
Support is provided by Aleksandrs Tolkacovs, an IIMS-Certified Yacht and Small Craft Marine Surveyor and licensed captain, with more than 20 years of experience in engineering, quality assurance and management.
The exact scope is agreed individually according to the yacht, location, purchase stage and level of support required.
Who Can Benefit from Buyer Representation?
Yacht buyer representation may be useful when:
International Buyers
For buyers purchasing a yacht in Spain or the Mediterranean while living in another country.
First-Time Yacht Buyers
For buyers who need practical guidance when evaluating the technical condition and future requirements of a yacht.
Remote Buyers
For clients who cannot personally attend every viewing, inspection, sea trial or boatyard appointment.
Buyers Comparing Several Yachts
For clients who need help identifying technical differences, risks and likely maintenance requirements.
Buyers Planning a Refit
For buyers considering a yacht that will require repairs, upgrades, maintenance or refurbishment after purchase.
Buyers Requiring Continued Support
For clients who need help after completion with repair planning, yard coordination or yacht delivery.
The service provides technical and practical support. It does not guarantee that a suitable yacht will be found or purchased.
What Yacht Buyer Representation Can Include
The service can be adapted to the stage of the purchase and the buyer’s requirements. Depending on the agreed scope, support may include:
Review of Available Information
Review of yacht specifications, equipment lists, photographs, maintenance information and other documents provided by the seller or broker.
Pre-Offer Technical Inspection
A preliminary inspection intended to identify obvious defects and major warning signs before the buyer submits an offer or commissions a full survey.
Survey Planning
Advice on the appropriate survey scope, haul-out, sea trial and any specialist inspections that may be required.
Pre-Purchase Survey
Coordination or completion of an independent pre-purchase yacht survey before the purchase is finalised.
Survey Report Interpretation
Clear explanation of survey findings, defect priorities, limitations and recommended next steps.
Technical Negotiation Support
Practical technical information that may help the buyer discuss repairs, price adjustments or completion conditions with the seller or broker.
Repair and Refit Planning
Initial planning and prioritisation of repairs, maintenance, upgrades or refit work identified during the purchase process.
Yard and Repair Coordination
Communication with boatyards, contractors or technical specialists where this is included in the agreed scope.
Sea Trial Support
Attendance or technical support during a sea trial where arranged and included.
Post-Purchase Handover
Support with practical handover arrangements, documentation review and immediate technical priorities after completion.
Yacht Delivery
Professional relocation of the yacht to its new marina or destination after purchase.
Services are limited to the agreed technical and practical scope. Legal, tax, financial, registration and contractual matters should be reviewed by appropriately qualified professional advisers.
Technical Support Before Making an Offer
Before making an offer, a buyer may want an initial understanding of the yacht’s apparent condition and major technical risks.
A pre-offer technical inspection can help identify obvious concerns before the buyer commits to the time and cost of a comprehensive survey.
Depending on the agreed scope, this may include:
- Visual inspection of safely accessible areas
- Review of the general condition of the yacht
- Identification of obvious defects and warning signs
- Initial review of available maintenance information
- Advice on the appropriate full survey scope
- A short written summary or practical discussion of the findings
A pre-offer inspection is limited in scope and does not replace a comprehensive pre-purchase yacht survey.
Support During the Survey and Purchase Process
A full survey can produce a substantial amount of technical information. Buyer representation helps the client understand which findings are most significant and how they may affect safety, maintenance, repair planning and the decision to proceed.
Support may include:
- Agreeing the inspection scope
- Coordinating access, haul-out and sea trial arrangements
- Reviewing major survey findings
- Explaining the practical importance of identified defects
- Identifying areas requiring specialist investigation
- Prioritising repairs and maintenance
- Obtaining or reviewing repair information where agreed
- Providing technical support during discussions with the seller or broker
- Helping the buyer understand the likely immediate requirements after purchase
All commercial decisions remain with the buyer. All Yacht Service does not guarantee the outcome of negotiations or the completion of the purchase.
Using Survey Findings During Negotiations
Survey findings may provide the buyer with a clearer basis for discussing repairs, completion conditions or the purchase price.
All Yacht Service can explain the technical significance and likely priority of identified defects so the buyer can make informed decisions and communicate more effectively with the seller or broker.
Where requested and appropriate, support may include:
- Preparing a clear summary of significant findings
- Distinguishing urgent safety items from routine maintenance
- Identifying defects that may require specialist quotations
- Reviewing repair proposals or available quotations
- Supporting technical discussions with the seller, broker or repair yard
- Helping the buyer identify practical completion priorities
The service provides technical information and practical support. It does not provide legal advice, contractual representation or any guarantee that the seller will agree to repairs, discounts or other requested terms.
Technical Support After the Purchase
Support can continue after the purchase is completed.
Depending on the buyer’s requirements, this may include:
- Repair and maintenance planning
- Prioritisation of survey recommendations
- Boatyard and contractor coordination
- Review of proposed repair scopes
- Refit planning
- Preparation for relocation
- Practical handover support
- Professional yacht delivery to the new marina or destination
All Yacht Service can coordinate agreed work and technical specialists but does not imply that it directly performs every repair or specialist technical task.
Support for International Yacht Buyers
Purchasing a yacht in another country can create additional challenges, including travel, language, marina access, local contractors, documentation and coordination between several parties.
Based at Marina Greenwich in Altea, All Yacht Service can act as the buyer’s independent technical contact in Spain and other Mediterranean locations.
The service may help international buyers:
- Reduce unnecessary travel during the initial evaluation stage
- Arrange and attend technical inspections
- Coordinate with brokers, owners, marinas and boatyards
- Receive clear written and photographic information
- Understand survey findings and repair priorities
- Plan repairs, handover and delivery after completion
Legal ownership, registration, tax, customs and contractual matters remain the responsibility of the buyer and their appropriately qualified professional advisers.
Independent Advice and Conflict Disclosure
Buyer representation is intended to provide clear technical information in the interests of the commissioning client.
Any commercial relationship or potential conflict of interest connected with a vessel will be disclosed before an appointment is accepted.
Where a conflict could prevent an independent service from being provided, the assignment may be declined or its limitations agreed clearly with the client.
All Yacht Service does not receive authority to make the final purchase decision on behalf of the client unless a separate and legally appropriate written arrangement has been established.
Buyer Representation and Yacht Brokerage
A yacht broker normally assists with marketing, introducing buyers and sellers, arranging viewings and progressing the commercial transaction.
Yacht buyer representation from All Yacht Service focuses on independent technical support, vessel condition, survey findings, repair priorities and practical purchase decisions.
The service does not replace the buyer’s legal adviser, tax adviser, registration specialist or other appropriately qualified professional.
Where a yacht has a commercial connection with All Yacht Service, Premium Yachts Spain or another associated party, that relationship will be disclosed before the assignment is accepted.
All Yacht Service and Premium Yachts Spain are separate commercial brands and service areas operated by PREMIUM YACHTS SPAIN, S.L.. Survey findings remain professionally independent; the client may appoint another surveyor, and the assignment may be declined if a relationship cannot be appropriately disclosed or managed.
