The survey is a non-destructive inspection and is limited to areas and equipment that are safely accessible at the time of the survey. Where specialist mechanical, electrical, rigging or laboratory investigation is recommended, this will be identified in the report.

How the Pre-Purchase Survey Process Works

   Inspection Arrangements

   Access is coordinated with the owner, broker, marina or boatyard. Where possible, the survey may include an in-water inspection, haul-out and sea trial.

   Detailed Inspection

   The vessel’s accessible structure, systems, machinery, equipment and safety arrangements are examined in accordance with the agreed scope.

   Sea Trial and Haul-Out

   When included, the sea trial allows key systems to be assessed under operating conditions, while haul-out provides access to the underwater hull and appendages.

   Report and Recommendations

   The client receives a clear written report with photographs, findings, defect priorities and practical recommendations.

Haul-Out and Sea Trial

A comprehensive pre-purchase survey is normally most effective when the yacht can be inspected both afloat and out of the water.

Haul-out allows inspection of the underwater hull, keel, rudder, propellers, shafts, saildrives and underwater fittings.

A sea trial provides an opportunity to assess propulsion, steering, instrumentation and selected onboard systems under realistic operating conditions.

Haul-out, marina, fuel and vessel-operating costs are normally arranged separately and are not automatically included in the survey fee unless specifically stated in the quotation.

Clear Survey Report and Practical Recommendations

The survey report explains the vessel’s observed condition in clear and practical language. Findings are supported by photographs and prioritised so the buyer can distinguish between significant safety concerns, important maintenance items and less urgent observations.

Reports are normally issued within 48 hours after completion of the inspection, subject to the vessel, survey scope and any additional information required.

The report is prepared for the commissioning client and should not be presented as a guarantee of future condition or freedom from defects.

Walkthrough and Pre-Offer Inspection

For buyers who are not yet ready to commission a full survey, All Yacht Service can provide a shorter walkthrough or pre-offer inspection.

This service is intended to identify obvious concerns and major warning signs before the buyer submits an offer or arranges a comprehensive survey.

Depending on the agreed scope, it may include:

• Visual inspection of safely accessible areas
• Identification of obvious defects and major warning signs
• Review of the general condition of the vessel
• A short written summary
• Guidance on whether a full survey or specialist inspection should be considered

A walkthrough or pre-offer inspection is limited in scope and does not replace a full pre-purchase yacht survey.
